Sayur Putih atau Sayur Hijau ?

Q:  “Antara sayur hijau dan putih, mana lebih bagus?” Nurul Najjah

A:  Saranan ‘eat a rainbow of vegetables’ ada kebenarannya !

Ini kerana setiap warna sayuran memberikan nutrien yang berbeza. Sayur hijau mengandungi klorofil, lutein dan vitamin C yang membantu meningkat sistem imunisasi badan dan melawan free radical.

Sayur putih pula mengandungi beta glucans dan lignan dan ia juga berperanan dlm membantu meningkatkan daya tahan penyakit. Malah ia juga mengandungi mineral potassium , folate malah serat. Tidak dinafikan, sayuran hijau seringkali dikatakan lebih penting, tetapi sebenarnya semua warna sayuran termasuk ungu, merah dan kuning perlu ada dalam diet anda atau anak-anak.

    I remember 1 time my son and I went to a talk for dyslexia together last year. In 1 of the topics, the presenter mentioned that we need to have 5 colors of food in every meal. Since that day, my son will always check whether I’ve put at least 5 colors in every single meal incl. breakfast. The pressure is on me of course….to ensure I comply to that…lol.

    yup, a variety of veges is important. In fact , i came across in my reading that more studies are done looking into white vege , as it is often forgotten. Anyhow, i find that my youngest child takes vege really well unlike her sisters . Putting decorations to her meal helps ( coz now i have time as no longer working).

      Getting my son to eat vegies was really a struggle. He can spit out any finely chopped vegies like nobody business. It was a try n error to find what vegies he likes. Once I got them, I slowly introduce other vegies based on his tastebud from the 1st group that I’ve identified. It works. Lucky for me, I don’t have to do any decor for my son. Tell him a story about the vegies is good enough but the story needs to be very elaborate and I have to check every single detail of the information on that particular vegies. He’s dyslexic, doesn’t like to read but he can remember every single detail I told him, so I always need to get the facts straight… 🙂

      The latest, I can manage to incorporate “ulam pegaga” into his diet…juicing or simply chop & put them in the omellete for his breakfast.

      It didn’t happen overnight though but finally my son is eating his vegies.

        Thanks Azura for the tip. Juicing is another way for the kids to “drink” their vege. Even for us adults too! Add some sweet fruits into the juice and voila sangat sedap!
